Starlight Soft is a soft and lovely acrylic version of our mega popular Starlight. It has the same type of reflective thread woven into the yarn, which can’t be felt in the finished project. Although the thread is hardly visible in the yarn, when it is hit by light it will produce a reflective effect. It’s a really fun and functional detail which is a real hit especially in the dark months.

Starlight Soft is easy to work with and with a size 5 needle it can be quickly  transformed into hats, mittens, scarves and more. It’s soft and comfortable against the skin and doesn’t itch. It can also be tolerated if you’re allergic to wool!

Please be aware that Starlight yarns are not safety approved for use in traffic. Even if you decided to knit yourself coveralls out of the yarn, it will only be supplementary - Starlight will never be able to replace a reflector or a high visibility reflective vest. So take care of yourself in traffic and ensure visibility with CE-approved reflective materials.

This yarn is really cool. The skeins are small, so it took me ~2 skeins to make a hat (with a Pom Pom). While the acrylic itself is soft, the reflective thread has a sort of rubbery texture to it. It’s not scratchy, more like very slightly grabby, and it’s not something I notice while wearing the hat I made. The grabby texture might be weird in a garment, so I’d stick to accessories (like hats and scarves).

It works great though for reflecting light on nighttime walks! I genuinely feel much safer when I wear it, knowing that I’m more visible to cars. It isn’t shiny in the daytime, only when beams of light are pointed on it. This yarn is a staple for anyone who goes on walks/runs/rides at night and wants that extra little flash of safety.

I love love love this yarn!!! While not as soft as regular acrylic because of the reflective thread, it's still ideal for outdoor projects and wearables such as headbands, scarves, hats, mittens, etc. The skeins are rather small, I used almost an entire skein for a single headband. That being said, the result is beautiful! It looks cute during the day and there is quite a nice stitch definition, and it's even prettier at night for an evening walk! There was less splitting than expected, it was very pleasurable to work with. At first I used a resin hook, but the yarn didn't glide very well so I switched to a Prym plastic hook and it did the job very well.

I bought this yarn on a whim, as it was a neat idea to have a reflective piece incorporated. However, I needed to see what it was like in person. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with how soft the yarn was. You don't feel any sort of itchy, irritating texture from the reflexive portion of the yarn! I'm looking forward to making a hat for a dear friend that enjoying walking in his neighborhood at dusk so he will be warm and more easily seen. :) Recommend this yarn.

This yarn is awesome! Although I had to wait nearly 2 months for it, I really enjoy it. The balls of yarn are a LOT SMALLER than I thought they would be but that's okay...I know I'm going to buy more of it in the future! Can't wait to buy more of yarn off this website! Made a hat out of 1 and a half balls of yarn...which is a tad crazy to me. I suggest that you use this wisely, for example; if youre going to make a hat either make it striped or use one to 4 rows of reflective yarn. :)

Love it! I would not call it a worsted - it's heavier than that, though perhaps not as thick as a full "chunky." I whipped up a hat for my husband in no time - he reports that it is comfortable amd very warm. The yarn is soft and easy to work with (though it split on me in a few places), and I love the reflective shine. Fortunately, I bought enough for a hat for myself and promptly ordered more for a cowl for my mother.
